Me and Infragistics
I joined Infragistics in April of 2008 to build up and manage the UX team. So I’m here to make sure that we work towards our 3 key objectives:
- Helping our customer base with UX services
- Growing UX in our own organization
- Play an active part in the UX community
Team work and collaboration is something that I value a lot and I’m a firm believer that a team will always yield better results than an individual. There are at least two prerequisites for this though and that’s also part of my job: create an environment that fosters excellence and establish a common and consistent way we do our UX work (the processes we follow, the methods we employ, the equipment we use). To achieve these and all the other goals, we are busy-busy. One of the ways I try to stay up-to-date on things is as a reviewer for technical journals and conferences. I also try to follow relevant blogs and keep up publishing about UX and talking at events.
B.I. – Before Infragistics
I switched to Infragistics pretty much exactly 10 years after I started my career in usability engineering. Before, I was with Siemens in Germany and the US. I had some senior R&D positions at Corporate Technology, Corporate Research and Medical Solutions. On my business card I had many different job titles like Development Engineer, Usability Engineer, Human Factors Specialist and System Analyst. I think Usability Engineer describes my expertise the best. The first encounters with UX I had in college, studying Psychology.
